POST FACIAL:
DO’S & DON’TS

6_edited.jpg

As always, if you have any questions or notice anything unexpected after treatment, please contact our clinic. Our team is here to support your journey every step of the way.

At Bonsai Medical & Aesthetics, we believe beauty and wellness begin with care — not just during your treatment, but in the days that follow.

This guide outlines the essential Do’s and Don’ts after facials and aesthetic injectables. Following these recommendations ensures you heal beautifully, minimize side effects, and enjoy lasting radiance.

After every service, your skin and body are in a state of renewal. The right aftercare helps protect your investment, enhances results, and supports long-term skin health.

POST-FACIAL: DO’S & DON’TS FOR RADIANT RESULTS

DO:
  • Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water to help your skin flush out toxins and stay supple.

  • Use gentle skincare. Stick to a simple routine with a mild cleanser and fragrance-free moisturizer for 24–48 hours.

  • Apply SPF daily. Your skin is more photosensitive post-treatment, so a broad- spectrum SPF 30+ is non-negotiable.

  • Let your skin breathe. Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours (unless your aesthetician advises otherwise).

  • Schedule downtime. Avoid heat exposure, hot yoga, saunas, and steam rooms for 24– 48 hours.

  • Use clean pillowcases and avoid touching your face. Protect your skin from bacteria to reduce post-facial breakouts.

DONT:
  • Pick or exfoliate. Avoid scrubs, acids (AHAs/BHAs), retinol, or exfoliating brushes for at least 3–5 days.

  • Work out right after. Sweat can irritate open pores — wait at least 24 hours.

  • Use active serums immediately. Delay vitamin C, retinoids, or strong anti-aging products until your skin settles.

  • Expose yourself to direct sun. Stay shaded or wear a wide-brimmed hat when outdoors.

  • Schedule major events the same day. Temporary redness or minor breakouts are normal signs of renewal.

POST-FACIAL FILLERS: DO’S & DON’TS FOR BEST RESULTS

DO:
  • Apply ice (gently). Use a cold compress wrapped in cloth for 10 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours.

  • Stay upright. Remain upright for at least 4–6 hours post-treatment. Avoid lying flat.

  • Sleep on your back. Keep your head elevated with extra pillows for the first night or two.

  • Be patient. Final results appear in about two weeks as swelling subsides.

  • Consider arnica or bromelain (if recommended). These can help minimize bruising.

DONT:
  • Touch, massage, or press on the treated area. Unless instructed, do not manipulate the filler — it may migrate.

  • Exercise for 24–48 hours. Increased blood flow can worsen swelling or bruising.

  • Apply heat or use saunas/steam rooms for 48 hours. Avoid hot baths and sunbathing as well.

  • Consume alcohol or salty foods for 24–48 hours. These can increase swelling and dehydration.

  • Have dental work, facials, or massages for at least two weeks. Avoid any vigorous manipulation near the treated area.

PRO TIPS FOR LONGER- LASTING, MORE BEAUTIFUL RESULTS

Boost Longevity:
  • Hydrate well. Hyaluronic acid fillers (e.g., Juvederm, Restylane) hold water — dehydration can reduce results.

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure. UV rays accelerate collagen breakdown and filler degradation.

  • Use medical-grade skincare. Incorporate peptides, hyaluronic acid serums, and antioxidants for sustained glow.

  • Consider zinc supplements. May enhance enzyme support and filler longevity.

Speed Up Recovery & Glow-Up:
  • Use soothing, barrier-repair ingredients. Look for aloe, ceramides, and squalane.

  • Prioritize quality sleep. Healing and collagen repair peak at night.

  • Avoid smoking and limit alcohol. Both accelerate aging and slow skin recovery.

  • Schedule regular maintenance. Touch-ups every 6–12 months keep results natural and fresh.
